Instead of having a coffee date, I thought we could have a Thai tea date since this is a Thai recipes blog, and who doesn’t love some good Thai tea? Sipping some now as I type! I’ve got a Thai Milk Tea recipe?or Thai Lime Iced Tea if you need some, go make it, and come back!
Let’s chat!! Things have been crazy in our life lately. Since my Thai Hubby is able to work remotely for his job in Austin now, we decided to move from Austin, TX to Boone, NC!
Have you been there? Mountains, hiking, snowboarding, biscuits, and only 2.5 hours from my NC family?! Can’t get much better!
In our 9 years of marriage, we’ve never owned our own home and have had 7 different addresses.
In Bangkok when we were first married we lived in a studio apartment about the size of a large bedroom, then we lived with my family in NC for awhile, then at the employee housing in the Grand Teton National Park, (aka the grown up version of summer camp), then we rented a friend’s room in Austin, then we lived in three different two-bedroom apartments in Austin, and that last apartment was with three kids!
But even though we never owned our own place, and lived in small spaces, I didn’t feel like we were missing out, and we’ve loved each place for different reasons.
But it is huge that we just closed on our first house last week! And guess what?! We hadn’t even seen this house until the day before closing, but this was one of the first pics we saw online that made us fall in love!
We did see it virtually of course. My parents were there in person touring it doing FaceTime with us, and our realtor is a close friend who knows me well, so we trusted all the things, and so grateful for videos, Facetime, and Google Earth that made us feel like we had been to the house already.
But buying a house for the first-time remotely is not for the faint of heart! Thankful for our amazing Boone realtor and family that made it all work out and now we went from a 2 bedroom apartment in Austin to a log cabin in the mountains of NC?! What?! You never know how your life will turn out!
We are bummed to leave our Austin friends who have become like family though! Do you know how that feels? So bittersweet!
Over the last 6.5 years of living in Austin, for the first half of our time here I missed my family in NC, and especially after having kids I wanted to move back and thought life would be better there.
But over the last three years or so, I’ve come to realize that either living in an apartment in Austin, or living in a log cabin in NC, life is awesome, and there are benefits to living in Austin, and benefits to living in NC. It’s just how you look at things!
it took me forever to get to being content wherever I live, but it’s so nice to finally feel peace no matter what my address is.
So I’m grateful for all our Austin adventures and know that life in NC is also going to be full of adventures that just look different.
Sorry I wont be posting much as we move in a week and half, and set up our new life, but I will post pics of it all on Instagram on Instastories ทางเข้าเล่น Casino คาสิโนออนไลน์ได้เงินจริงบนมือถือ-แทงบอลออนไลน์@thaifoodie if you want to follow me there. And I can’t wait to cook up some awesome new Thai recipes for you all in our kitchen soon!!
And check in for pics of our remodel projects from time to time. Why not! We have no clue what we are doing of course, so any decor or home renovating tips are highly welcome!
